LoBeams believes it is the responsibility of all producers to tread lightly on the planet. That’s why we offset 10 times the direct carbon footprint generated by our products.
Simply stated, the carbon footprint of a product is a measure of the CO2 emissions and equivalent gasses (C02e) associated with all the steps it takes to get a LoBeams headlamp in your hands. This carbon footprint includes sourcing raw materials, manufacturing each component and packaging, assembling the components, transporting products to customers and recycling the packaging.
WHAT’S IN A HEADLAMP?
CO2e GENERATED DURING LOBEAMS JOURNEY TO YOU
1.52kg CO2e per headlamp sold
Your purchase invests in projects that pull carbon out of the atmosphere or prevent further emissions, such as reforestation efforts or cookstove replacement programs in developing countries. These investments are called “carbon offsets,” and they’re one of the weapons we have to fight against climate change.
Every month, we review sales and calculate amount of CO₂e to offset, and multiply it by 10.
The appropriate amount of money is transferred to our dedicated C10X offset fund.
Every quarter, those funds purchase enough offsets to sequester 10 times the CO2e for every LoBeams sold.
1.52 kg x 10 = 15.2 kg CO2e offset
We champion the C10X formula because carbon neutrality is, well, just a start. To solve the climate crisis, we need solutions, not just band-aids. And heroes. That means you and me.
We know we’re not perfect,
but we’re trying.
If you’re a company we invite you to copy our 10x approach. If you’re a carbon expert we invite you to review our carbon accounting and tell us what we could be doing better.
